- Unlock Your Potential: Tackle the Trails with Online Mountain Bike Coachingby Nic JohnsonOnline mountain bike coaching, is it a thing? Can you learn to mountain bike online? Lots of clients have admitted to me that they have tried to learn to ride better through watching ‘how-to’ mountain bike You Tube clips and Instagram tutorials online. And then in the same breath, pretty much most clients will express frustration. After watching numerous online videos and reels, whether it is about how to ride a corner, or perform a specific skill, the messages are often conflicting and confusing. The end result is you can be left feeling overwhelmed by all the information, and unsure …

- A Cycling Adventure: Exploring Taiwan’s Hidden Gemsby Nic JohnsonThe first thing people ask about our cycle tour of Taiwan is: Why Taiwan? Well, it’s easy – Taiwan is a small country with diverse natural landscapes, great food, lovely people and is extremely bike-friendly. It’s so bike-friendly that cars slow down and hand food and drinks out the window, people shout encouragement from their scooters as they whizz past and the local police stations double as cycling rest stops complete with bike pumps, tools, toilets and a microwave to heat up your pot noodles. We flew to the capital, Taipei in early January – the middle of winter in …

- I went skiing for the first time and it was terrifying!by Nic JohnsonIt’s hard to imagine but at the age of 45 I went skiing for the very first time. How difficult can it be? Most sports have come to me pretty easily, so downhill skiiing won’t be much different right? I started with a two-hour private lesson with my amazing instructor Tom from Latvia. He asked what I wanted to learn, and of course I said ‘JUMPS!’ So, we trudged up to the learner slope to where the four-year-olds were. I listened like a sponge and tried to be the best student I could be. After the lesson I joined my …

Phoebe O'Neill26 January 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Nic is the best teacher, so patient and kind!!! Everyone and anyone would get so much out of a lesson if you’ve been riding 3 months or 3 years 🤘🏽 Ellie Pritchard24 January 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Nic was really approachable and explained things in a way that was easy to understand. I only had a short session, but I loved it so much I’ve booked onto another. Would 100% recommend! I’m so exited for the skills I’ll learn with her Lisa Ryan24 January 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Has a great way of breaking down complex technique into easily digestible chunks, and I've been surprised with how quickly my riding has improved from just a couple of lessons. Looking forward to the next one, and have recommended her to multiple friends already! Meagan Robertson23 January 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. As someone who's ridden for 15+ years, and coached for the past 10, I wasn't sure how much I would get out of a coaching session, but believe in continuing to upskill, so decided to book a private session with Nic. It was so worth it. It's one thing to tell people to ride a certain way, it's another to have someone analyze how you're riding, and show you through video what can be improved, then watch and coach through another go. I wanted to focus on drops but we stated with my body position, which needed adjustment to tackle drops better. By the end of the session we were on drops and I feel like I learned heaps. I was also really impressed by the follow up email going over everything we'd discussed. I'd highly recommend investing in a lesson. Even if you're good, you can always be better. Helen Payn22 January 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Nic is a great coach, teaching skills and giving encouragement to get down a challenging feature. I joined a group course and was a little nervous, but those nerves quickly went away. In just one session, my confidence grew, I felt more in tune with my body positioning and could pick a line through something I would normally look at and walk. I'm becoming a repeat customer! Highly recommend!! Jack Whiterod21 January 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Had an awesome time as part of a group session with Nic! Quickly got everyone up to a similar level and then added on the progression. Looking forward to another session at some point soon Tyson Finn21 January 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Had a great cornering session with Nic, she broke down key elements of learning to corner better and helped get me more confident. Can't wait for another course soon! I had the pleasure of taking one of Nic's mountain bike lessons during my holiday in Wellington. I am a COMPLETE beginner, only mountain biked once before. Nic was kind and patient while also encouraging me to push my comfort zone (I actually could turn a corner after this class!!! something I couldn't do before). I felt supported and encouraged the entire time and also just had a great time hanging out with Nic. Such a wonderful way to spend the afternoon and develop some new skills! I will be returning next year for more sessions when we visit NZ again! Erica Douglass21 January 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Nic is an amazing coach. She starts with the fundamentals including bike setup and body position regardless of your experience level then tailors the lessons to your personal needs/wants. She does a great job breaking down the skills and your execution in digestible chunks. Couldn’t recommend more!
